FNQ Yestayear Images - April 1992

During the month Talair EMB110 P2-RDU transitted Cairns from POM to Tamworth for a re-spar.  Seen here on take off rw15.

A hybrid Customs scheme on this B200 VH-KZL was rolled out of the Skywest hangar.

USAF C-135 12668 (c/s TACOM 01) wearing the blue and gold trim with US of A titles dropped in on the 28th from Guam and departed on to SYD.

ANZ sent B762 ZK-NBJ on the scheduled service a week or so before ANZ leased the aircraft to LOT for a five month period begining on the 13th. Seen her from the Esplanade on finals to rw33.

At the end of the month Solomons Island Airlines replaced their B732 H4-SAL with a -300 series H4-SOL, seen here on its first visit to Cairns on their scheduled service.  Royal Tongan titles (worn on H4-SAL) were also applied to the new aircraft for the ongoing code share with Royal Tongan.

JAL commenced the lease of three Qantas B743's for use on the Japan-Australia route, being VH-EBT, EBX and EBY.  The repaint featured the new JAL livery but with a reduced size tail logo.  Qantas roof titles were also applied on the rear fuselage.  Here VH-EBX is seen rotating on one of the early services during April.
